Fashionista Friday: Stunning gowns from Monique Lhuillier

If your fashion icons are Jackie O and Audrey Hepbrun and you are looking for a classic dress with a hint of drama, then check out Monique Lhuillier‘s gorgeous spring collection in this installment of Fashionista Friday.  Monique Lhuillier creations are the very essence of sophisticated luxury and their femininity, glamour and little touch of drama have made her a superstar in the world of bridal fashion. Monique’s innate sense of style is prevalent throughout her bridal and ready-to-wear collections.” She is known for her elegant bridal wear, however her gorgeous gowns can be found on celebrities including Reese Witherspoon, Halle Berry, and Drew Barrymore.

Recently, Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2014 debuted at New York’s Fashion Week. Monique said her inspiration came from the 1960’s and wanted her designs to have a fantasy-like feel. Many of her styles featured peplum skirts, asymmetrical designs, sheer overlays, and gorgeous laces and appliqués.

While looking at her collection, I fell in love with her classic yet dramatic styles for Spring. And I think you just might too.

Celestial: Embroidery in white and gold with a tulle illusion neckline creates a very sophisticated, timeless gown.

Azure: This gorgeous number is made of silk and chantilly lace with a strapless sweetheart neckline. It has an asymmetric horsehair peplum and full tulle skirt that adds a bit of dramatic flair.

Paris: Want to feel like a 1940s Hollywood starlet on your wedding day? This beautiful gown would do it with its strapless neckline, drop waist bodice, and asymetric tufted skirt.  And no, your eyes are not decieving you. It is sherbet ombre!

Illusion: A gown made for a princess. This fairy-tale like gown is white silk with embroidered tulle and illusion cap sleeves and has a natural waist and an a-line skirt.

Jolie: Short wedding dresses will be one of Spring’s hottest trends and Jolie is “Oh so Jackie O!” This ivory guipure lace dress has long sleeves and a portrait neck-line with a tulle detachable skirt.

Pearl: Monique’s idea of fantasy is surely reflected in this gown. It  is white silk and with an draped organza bodice with an asymmetric floral horse hair peplum.

Which one is your favorite? Can’t decide and want to try them all on? Monique’s designs can be found at Alexia’s Bridal Boutique in Raleigh.
