katharine + scrap: southern georgia wedding | raleigh, nc wedding & lifestyle photographer

Earlier this spring I went down to Atlanta to photograph the wedding of Katharine Wright and Scrap Ladson with my dear friend Tessa Swarthout of Light Love Laughter Photography (I loved shooting with her because we each just do our own thing!). Having witnessed a number of weddings — and as a recent bride myself — I know it can be all to easy to get a little too caught up in the details and the ‘creativity’ of the ‘event’ — often forgetting the meaning behind the day. This was not the case with Katharine and Scrap’s wedding, however.  Everything about this traditional wedding was beautiful, but very much centered around the ‘marriage’ not just the ‘wedding.’ I’m honored to have played a part in their special day and wish them much love and happiness in the future. Here are some of my favorite images from their wedding…

A simple basket held the wedding programs… I met Katharine at the hair salon early that morning…she was the picture of calm and relaxed…maybe because her sister was there or maybe because she was nose-deep in the Bible reading the book of Ruth as instructed by their minister during their rehearsal. He planned to use readings from Ruth in his homily and felt strongly that both Katharine and Scrap read the book at some point before the ceremony, so Katharine use some of her time at the salon to do her ‘homework’.
Her gown was simple and classic…just stunning…
A classic beauty…

Any bride with pink flowers is guaranteed to be a fave! 🙂 While Tessa was off doing other things, I snagged the rings from the best man…and decided there would be no better ‘backdrop’ than the Book of Ruth… Katharine was elated to walk in and see her family  and friends…and especially her groom… GORGEOUS architecture! Wish I could regularly photograph in this beautiful church… And they’re m-a-a-a-a-rried! A favorite –

I love the playfulness of these two…
Another favorite….could you be anymore stunning??? W.O.W!!! The first dance….I just love Scrap’s expressions….he’s a happy man! I do love a bubble exit!  I haven’t seen a traditional car exit in a while — I love it!
