On the cover of a magazine | raleigh wedding and portrait photographer

I should have made this post with the summer issue but since the fall issue just hit stands recently, it’s still quite timely. In April, I was contracted by Wake Living to provide the photography for their magazine. Wake Living is a quarterly lifestyle magazine dedicated to covering providing Wake County readers with hometown stories and community spotlights as well as articles on fashion, food, home interiors, travel, and more. Its sister magazine Fifteen 501 offers the same type of articles for readers in Durham, Orange and Chatham Counties. I was (and still am!) both excited and honored since their readership covers the entire Triangle area.

The day the publisher’s package arrived on my doorstep was like Christmas morning for me. I couldn’t wait to see my images actually in print inside and I tore into that package so fast that it rivaled any kid opening his first present from Santa. Papercuts be damned! Imagine my shock to pull out the first copy and see one of my images on the cover! THE COVER! Wow!  I knew I would have numerous images featured inside the magazines but I never dreamed one would make the cover!

I became Bill Murray in Groundhog Day a couple of weeks ago when the fall issue hit the stands! The package came – I tore it open – and was again shocked to find another of my images on the cover as well as featured in multiple articles throughout both magazines. One of my favorite assignments for the fall issue was photographing Durham firefighter Angelica Stroud. She is a true leader and an inspiration in the community – read her story here.

A special thanks to David Hughes and Danielle Jackson for having faith in my ability and for bringing life and meaning to my images. I am truly honored and humbled.

This summer issue cover image is a local model and employee at Uniquities , a supercool boutique with locations in Cameron Village, North Hills and Durham.

The summer fashion spread….play in pretty clothes and shoes for the morning???? Yes, please!

Be sure to pick up the current issue – on news stands now! If you’ve already read the Fall issue, stay tuned for the Winter one. I already have one of my assignments for that issue and will be starting work on that in earnest in a couple of weeks.
