I’m so excited to finally share this wedding with you. As much as I love photographing large bridal parties and huge receptions with lots of laughter and dancing and zany guests, sometimes it’s equally as nice to photograph small, intimate weddings. At times I even prefer it because they’re just a little different.

That was the case with Heather and Trent’s fall wedding at Fearrington Village. It was the perfect southern fall evening — the sun was low in the sky, a soft breeze swept through a beautiful garden and a gentle hush fell over those gathered there. A beautiful bride, looking more like a princess, slowly walked toward her smiling groom. She reached him, and he took her hands in his. And there, in that idyllic setting, surrounded by family and their closest friends, they promised to love, honor and cherish one another for all of their lives. And then they sealed it with a kiss.

It was like a scene scripted right out of a fairytale. The kind where bluebirds fly down from the heavens while the animals sing. One of those “all is right in the world” kind of moments. And though it was real life – and onlyfairytale-like – I bet somewhere at Fearrington animals were singing and bluebirds were flying. Because really, on that day, at that moment, all WAS right in Heather and Trent’s world.

Heather and Trent….you two are the best. No really. Like THE best. Ever. Thank you for your friendship and for making me feel like part of the family. I’m so grateful that I was able to share in the happiness of your wedding day. I wish you two a lifetime of love and happiness and hope that each new day brings more love than your hearts can even hold!  OXOX … Renee

I am totally smitten with the images from this wedding. It’s going to be a long one — so grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine…. And if you make it all the way the end, thank you for sticking around! 🙂

Heather’s wedding gown was S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G!!! WOWZA! And just wait until you see it on her!

Heather went totally retro-glam with this birdcage veil and feathery fascinator. SWOON! photo of gown and accessories at Fearrington Village wedding photo of red shoes at Fearrington Village wedding

Hair and makeup by the incomparable MARGO WILLIAMS! I. HEART. HER!!

The thing I love most about Heather is that she truly has no idea just how beautiful she is. Which makes her even more beautiful! photo of bride getting ready at Fearrington Village wedding photo of bride getting ready at Fearrington Village wedding

Trent received his undergraduate degree from NC State and is a diehard fan, so his bride-to-be not only used red as her main color, she also incorporated a few Wolfpack details throughout the day. I’m betting she scored MAJOR brownie points, too! Guys always dress in The Red Room at Fearrington, which I’d say is pretty fitting for this groom! photo of groom

Heather surprised Trent and his dad with NC State socks to wear for the wedding…Trust me when I saw this was a BIG hit with the guys! photo of groom

Gorgeous red flowers! photo of red flowers at Fearrington Village wedding

TTrent and Heather opted for a “First look”  — always such a special time for couples before the ceremony. [And see what I mean about that gown???? LOVE!!]

I love when couples opt to see each other before the wedding. Not only does it give them an opportunity to talk and have some private time, it also allows for more relaxed photos too!

My associate WADE grabbed this one while I was taking the next one. LoveloveLOVE it! So artsy! photo of bride and groom at Fearrington Village weddingA traditional portrait in The White Garden [that sounds so fancy and all presidential-like!]  photo of bride and groom at Fearrington Village wedding

These next few images are so totally “Fearrington.” This one in particular is one of my favorite images. Ever. There something about it that just makes me swoon! Maybe because it’s just so iconic….who knows. Just love it! photo of bride and groom at Fearrington Village wedding

I couldn’t get enough of those flowers. LOVE them!

Breathtaking! Honestly – you rival any starlet in Hollywood!

Love the expressions in this next image…total picture of happiness amid tears of joy…
The moms were totally focused on their children…
Is this an idyllic setting for a wedding or what? Beautiful!
About to be announced and husband and wife….love the gorgeousness that is Fearrington in the fall! Sealing it with a kiss….
Another one of my favorite images. It’s not often that I am able to get all of the guests together in one photograph. I totally wish I had one of these from my own wedding.

On to The Garden Terrace for the first dance, some toasts and then a lovely dinner.

All the details at this wedding and reception were amazingly beautiful. Heather and the Fearrington staff did a great job with everything! Heather and Trent had a “wishing tree” as their “guest book” — guests left well wishes and marital advice on the branches of this manzanita tree. Love when couples do things that are a little unique.

One of my favorite ring shots so far. LOVE how the ring just pops against the richness of the flowers in the background [the rock itself ain’t half bad, either!]

The first dance….looking like Fred and Ginger! I just love when couples have fun and are completely into each other during the first dance…

Yes, this was every bit as yummy as it looks! The chef at Fearrington can rock a dessert! Toast time! Trent’s sister, Kelly, gave such a moving toast. It was clear how much she adores her big brother and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room. Well…except maybe this little guy. This is one of Heather’s nephews and he was all about some toasting. He is A-DORABLE! with his apple-juice-filled champagne glass!

Y’all know I love some cake! Especially one that rocks a salute to my alma mater! I bet that scored a few more brownie points with Trent!
Trent had some words of appreciation for the guests and a kiss for his new wife… and then it was send-off time! I love when couples plan ways for the guests to be involved in every part of their day! They had such a good time going through the sparklers that they went through again, this time dancing with their own sparklers! FUN! FUN! A fairytale kiss to end a fairytale kind of day….

A big, BIG thank you to my associate WADE for photographing this day with me and to my new friend Libby for assisting me with bags, set up and a little shooting too. You both just totally ROCK my WORLD! HUGS to you both!!!

Stay tuned for Heather’s gorgeous bridal portraits….they’ll be coming to the blog in a few days!

“To the world you might be one person; but to one person you just might be the world.”

If you don’t believe that this generation of young people is trying to make a difference in the world, I would have to say “you’re wrong.” And then I’d introduce you to Kayla.

Kayla has a list of high school accomplishments a mile long. She’s a talented dancer. She’s loved by her peers. She’s model-gorgeous. And, best of all, she has a heart of gold with a servant’s attitude.

At a mere 18 years old, Kayla has been active in her community for years, volunteering and organizing events for those less fortunate and doing all that she can to make a difference in her little corner of the world. She’s volunteered with the Asheboro Jaycees’ Operation Red Sleigh, a project that provides Christmas gifts to needy children, for seven years; and last year, she organized and hosted her own event that raised even more money for them. She organized Kayla’s Cans, a drive that netted 1004 packages of food for the local food pantry and has worked tirelessly with the Children’s Miracle Network throughout North Carolina.

In 2010, Kayla was named Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen, which allowed her to travel across our state promoting her personal platform “Promoting Volunteerism Among America’s Youth,” in which she talked to her peers about the importance of getting and staying involved in their communities. A noble effort, to be sure. And a topic that she not only believes in, but lives herself.

Of course she has other interests, too. Normal “teenager” things like hanging out with her friends, dance classes, football games, and shopping.

Kayla is now a freshman at East Carolina University and plans to major in communication with a double concentration in broadcast journalism and interpersonal organizational communication. After she finishes setting the world on fire with her philanthropic endeavors, she hopes to become a TV newscaster. So look for her on your local news in about 5 years. Her high school classmates voted her “Most Likely to be a Star”….and I have no doubt we’ll be seeing her again!

I’m just now getting these posted but we actually photographed Kayla’s session back in the spring. There are so many great locations in downtown Raleigh — parks, shops, alleys, etc.  – we started off inside the City Market area. Is this a face or what? Gorg! These next few should land her in Seventeen magazine!

A quick change of clothes – and scenery as we moved over by Moore Square
LOVE this! Love these iron gates at Marbles Museum This one is all teen! Love it!
Another quick change of wardrobe change and then we played around outside of Marbles some more… I dont know what it is about this photo but I think she looks a bit like Ashley Judd. Talk about gorgeous!   I’m ending with a couple of my favorites that are so very teen-like!

Thank you Kayla [and mom] for spending the afternoon with me! And good luck at East Carolina — I can’t wait to hear about all the great things you accomplish there!

When I think of Susan and Bobby and how they interact with one another, I always think of this passage by Roy Croft:

“I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.  I love you, not only for what ,
you have made of yourself but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out.”

I’ve known Susan since she was a teenager and the instant I met Bobby, I knew why she had fallen in love with him. Somehow, he – and they – just seemed right. It might be a bit cliché, but quite simply, he completes her. And she him! Together, they are one — each better than they could ever be apart.  [hey! who doesn’t like a good Jerry McGuire reference now and again?!?]

This was especially evident on the day of their wedding. There might have been 30 or so pairs of eyes watching them from chairs set up on the beach, but they joined hands, hearts — and ultimately lives — at the end of the aisle, nobody else was even in focus. Just Susan. And Bobby. And the love that just makes them better.

Susan and Bobby…Thank you for simply being you. And for making your wedding about all the things that truly matter! I have no doubt that your love with continue to grow stronger and brighter with each passing day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be part of your love story.   OXOX  Renee

Cute program fans came in handy. It was a HOT Myrtle Beach day!
The blending of two families… A tender moment between father and son…
This wedding had it all….laughter…. and tears….

The single tear that slowly rolled down Bobby’s cheek as he told Susan how much she means to him was one of the most beautiful, poignant moments I’ve experienced in a wedding in a long time. That just about did me in — and it’s hard to hold a camera steady when you’re trying not to cry.

Sealed with a kiss…and a hug….IT’s OFFICIAL! Bobby and his best friend, who also happened to be the officiant

The bride and her sweet daddy
The happy family There’s no doubt that Bobby adores his kids. I suspect that the feeling may be mutual! Since the ceremony took place just beyond the Cherry Grove Pier, the couple wanted some fun photos on the pier before heading over to the reception.

This couple can only be serious for a quick minute….
Love this!

Just married….and away they go…

They rented a super cute house right on the waterway for the reception
Bobby made their own wine….a pinot grigio they call Troublemaker – love the cute wine labels with an image from their downtown Raleigh engagement session last year An awesome collection of “their songs” was given to each guest along with colorful and tasty cake pops!
A quick entrance and let the party begin…. Susan said this wedding was laid back with a focus on fun and laughter. I think they nailed it.  Love these shots of them dancing with their children… and even Dad got in on the action a little… A sweet moment between sisters One of my favorite images of the day. There is truly nothing like the love between a mother and her child!
