Although from different countries and cultures, Melanie and Drew had an instant connection when they first met in May of 2009. Drew first saw Melanie in a photograph of a mutual friend. After asking about her, the friend arranged for them to meet. Several of their friends were there with them, but their connection was so immediate and their conversation so intense that it was as if they were the only two people in the room. Hours of conversation passed without them even noticing their surroundings or friends.
This began the romance between the French lass and the all-American lad that resulted in a proposal just six months later.
They were visiting Drew’s native California that November. It was a gorgeous fall day and Drew took Melanie to a quaint Malibu Beach café, one of his favorite spots when he lived in California. After breakfast, he took her for a walk on the beach to Point Dume, a state preserve known for its headlands, cliffs and rocky covers and an incredible view of Santa Monica Bay, the Malibu coast and distant Catalina Island. They made the trek up the main trail to the viewing platform, and while Melanie was captivated by the view and the sea lions playing below, Drew knew that was the perfect place and time to surprise her with a ring and a proposal. Melanie says she couldn’t have dreamed of a more romantic setting or perfect proposal.
I’m honored to photograph their wedding next month and am excited to share their engagement photos with you. They’re a very laid back and comfortably casual couple and chose to get close to nature during this Yates Mill Pond engagement session last fall.
They’re such a romantic couple and you can tell how much Melanie just adores him. Love you guys!
Drew is always saying or doing something to make her laugh!
Showin’ off the bling…
One of my favorite images. Their conversation is still so intense that they forget anyone else is around.
So pretty. France’s loss is definitely America’s gain!
Hello gorgeous couple!
Could you two BE any hotter?
Thank you for the fun afternoon at Yates Mill. I can only imagine how much fun the wedding will be in a few weeks. I can’t wait! OXOX
