st. david’s/north hills club wedding: erin-elizabeth + matt (part II)

I hope you enjoyed the first installment of Erin-Elizabeth and Matt’s wedding post. It’s now time to share images from their reception, which was so much fun. The rain that fell outside didn’t put even the tiniest damper on the party that was taking place inside the North Hills Club. The guests were enjoying cocktail hour while we were busy taking formal photos, and once we arrived, A Perfect Day DJ John Carter introduced the newlyweds and then the party was on!

Their first dance was to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Lady  Antebellum.

A few of the details from the reception — I just love this pop of yellow mixed with the grey that EE chose.  I love when brides have candy bars for their guests — and this one was so bright and festive. It makes me happy just seeing all this sunny yellow sugar delights! Toasts by the best man and matron of honor… LOVE this image of EE as she listens to her best friend’s toast. She was moved to tears…

I always love watching for the reaction of guests and I just adore this one of this couple listening to the toasts. The quilted cake was gorgeous! And I finally got EE and Matt to smile. They were concentrating so hard on cutting the cake “properly” that they totally forgot to smile.

EE danced with good friend Rick during the traditional father/daughter dance. It was such an emotional time for everyone as they listened closely to the words Luther Vandross sang in “Dance with my Father.” I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room by the time the dance ended.

“If I could steal one final glance
One final step, one final dance with him
I’d play a song that would never, ever end
‘Cause I’d love, love, love to dance with my father again” Matt selected “Unforgettable” for the mother/son dance. Unfortunately, due to some health issues with his dad, his parents left the reception shortly after the meal, so he shared the dance with his sister instead. Once the formal dances concluded, DJ John cranked up the music and guests hit the dance floor for the rest of the afternoon.

One of EE’s favorite moments of the reception was the bouquet toss. It started out like any other toss….but how it ended was akin to a professional baseball player sliding into home plate.

and then. Out of nowhere. Matt’s cousin appears….

and with moves that I’m not sure I can even begin to describe – though they rivaled any that MC Hammer ever busted –she dives (literally!!) on the floor for the bouquet, scattering petals everywhere. Funniest moment ever at a reception — one that EE says she will remember forever. (And yes, sadly, I did just make an MC Hammer reference!) LoveloveLOVE these images of the garter toss….think she’s a little ticklish? EE’s nephew — at all of 8 or 9 — managed to catch the garter. I must tell you he was pretty proud of himself for beating out all the older guys! It’s not often that I see an old fashioned decorated car anymore — and i must say Matt’s friends got him with this one. It’s a shame the rain washed off a good bit of the “decor”… Though the supersized grandma panties (and other unmentionables) that were all. over. the. car. remained — and elicited some pretty good laughs….
I love bubble exits — they’re so pretty even when they’re held under a portico because of the rain… Seeing the car for the first time as they leave for a relaxing mountain escape…

I understand the happy couple had a great time on their honeymoon and that they’re now settling into married life. My wish is that this will be just the first of a lifetime of celebrations with family and friends for them!
