Tuesdays Musings…my Super Bowl wrap up

Well Happy Tuesday, y’all! I don’t think I’m going to do a Ten on Tuesday in it’s truest form today. When I saw the list of questions for today (see them HERE), I just wasn’t all that interested. In fact, I thought they were kind of boring. And, well, if they were boring to me, they would for sure be boring to you. And who wants bored readers???

So, I’m going to answer a couple of the ones I found least boring and skip the rest. Hmmm…on second look…I actually think I’m going to skip the whole thing. Since I haven’t officially shared my thoughts about the Super Bowl, I may as well do that before it’s too late.

First of all, Congratulations to the Giants on winning the Super Bowl. Neither my Steelers nor the Chargers made it this year, so I really didn’t care who won. Former NC State running back Andre Brown is a member of the team and one of the assistant coaches is a Pack alumnus as well, so I’m happy they got rings.

One of my pet peeves is a singer taking “liberties” with and/or otherwise butchering our national anthem in an effort to “make it their own” [thanks for THAT phrase, American Idol!]. Thanks to Kelly Clarkson for halfway keeping it like Francis Scott Key intended it. I kept the vocal acrobatics to a minimum and did a great job overall. One of my favorites in a long time. Props to you!

What did everyone think of Madonna’s performance? Growing up, I was never a huge fan of her music but the fact that she is 53, looks that darn good [with or without the “work”], still has those moves and has managed to keep herself relevant for three decades…well….all i can say is “YOU GO GIRL!” You are an inspiration to women everywhere – and I can only pray that I am in that same shape and state of mind when I’m your age. Heck, I pray that NOW for me at this age!

I guess I should dish the game itself for a minute. Beth, since you say I’m really a dude, this is for you. What a great game – it was great not to see a lopsided matchup this year. Eli, I’ve not been a big fan of yours since your draft day shenanigans, especially since they sent my boy Rivers to play for that idiot Norm the Chargers, but I have to hand it to you. You’ve managed to perform well under the shadow of your brother [of whom I actually am a big fan] and you proved on Sunday that yes, indeed, you are a QB of the same calibre as Brady. And yes, that was a heck of a catch…but an even better throw!! Nice job.

Mrs. Brady, just. be. quiet. That’s it. Speak. No. More!

And now…the commercials. It seems they’re getting mixed reviews this year. Some people think they were lackluster this year. Some people thought they were great. I’m somewhere in the middle but leaning more to the camp of the latter. There were some that were totally forgettable but the ones that were funny? Well, they were really funny to me. Here are my top 5 commercials this year.

I know it’s the year of the Dragon…but really…it was the year of the dog! The dog commercials were hands down the best to me.

#1…Man’s Best Friend  |  Doritos

This one makes me laugh out loud. Every. Time.

Honorable mentions go to the The Voice  for the Betty White ad – because well…who doesn’t love a good Betty White sighting… and to H&M for bringing us BECKHAM. Have mercy. I forgot they were selling something!

So, let’s dish. What did you love about the Super Bowl? Did your team win? What were your favorite commercials?

I’ll be back next week with another Ten on Tuesday! Have a great week!
