yummy goodness | raleigh – greensboro wedding photographer

It’s no big secret that I have quite the affinity for cupcakes (especially those from NYC’s Magnolia Bakery!), but I have recently discovered a sweet little confection that has kind of bumped cupcakes from atop the list of favorites!

I know! I KNOW! I just heard the big gasp from all of you who know me! BUT — let me share with you what leapt their way to the top with just one bite: cake balls. Yes, CAKE BALLS!

I know what you’re thinking: “what the heck is a cake ball?”. Well, quite honestly, just about the most delectable thing you could ever put in your mouth. Simply put, a cake ball is super moist cake rolled into a ball, dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with colored sugar, sprinkles or whatever decoration the girls at the bakery come up with and put on a stick. Basically, cake lollipops.

If you were at the Sprink annual Christmas party this year, chances are you tasted for yourself (and if you didn’t, you should have!) and know firsthand that “yummy goodness” is the perfect way to describe them. If you weren’t at our party, then call Kelly at Yummy Goodness Bake Shoppe in Greensboro and try them out for yourself.

I first discovered the edible piece of heaven known as the cake ball when I photographed Kasey & Andrew’s wedding last fall. Kasey used them as favors for her guests to take home at the end of the reception — and they were a big hit. Always looking for a cool, unique way to photograph a couple’s rings, using the cake balls was a no-brainer for me. After setting up the shot, I had my assistant photographer Jessica take a number of photos from various angles. I loved how they turned out and sent them to the good folks at Yummy Goodness, who showed me some photo love on their blog. Thanks Kelly and Katie!
