I’ve been dying to share this news with you since I received the call on Monday, but for confidentiality reasons, I had to wait until today. In just a few minutes, I will be heading a little bit south to Fayetteville for what I am sure will be one of the most exciting and rewarding photography projects I’ve ever been involved in. ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will be on location building a house for a deserving family and I’ll be doing the photography for all the portraits that will hang in their new home. I’ll also be photographing some promotional shots of Ty Pennington, the oh-so-cute handyman and host of the show.

I won’t have a lot of details until I get there for the “door knock”, but I can’t wait to share all the happenings [complete with photos] — and the air date — as soon as I can.

I know Independence Day was last week, but since I like to stretch out my holidays [and birthdays] to encompass entire months, this post isn’t really all that late! Those of you who know me well know that my patriotism runs deep. I’m all about the good ol’ US of A and the soldiers who fight daily for our freedom! You also know that I’m all about the 1940s and old Hollywood glam! So, when I found out that one of the classes at a recent photography workshop would be held on the USS Wisconsin and would feature USO pin-up-style models, I jumped at the chance to take that class. [It didn’t hurt that it was being taught by none other than the amazing Lou Freeman, either.]

I’m not going to say much more than HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA! And THANK YOU to all of our soldiers – past and present – around the world who defend our country and our freedoms with everything they have! Enjoy the photos… undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined

undefined undefined undefined undefined undefinedSpecial thanks to models Pepper and Melissa! You ROCK!

If Taylor looks a little familiar, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. You haven’t seen him on the blog before, but you have seen his sister Lindsay [here, here and most recently here]! I was excited to schedule Taylor’s senior session a few weeks ago. I photographed him and his family for their Christmas card back in the fall, so I knew how photogenic he is and how dry his sense of humor is, so I knew we’d have a fun time! We met up at the state capitol early one Saturday morning and just walked and photographed throughout the downtown area.

Taylor is a rising senior at Wake Christian Academy where he is an Honor Roll student and plays defense on the football team. Taylor can often be found watching ACC sports [GO WOLFPACK!!], hunting, working out, beating his dad at playing checkers with his dad, and cataloging pick up lines with his best friend Josh. He was single when we did the session but apparently some of those pick up lines work because I understand he now has a girlfriend [sorry girls!]. Taylor is planning for a career in commercial construction but I’m thinking a secondary career in modeling may be an option as well!

Without further ado, meet Taylor!

undefined undefined undefined undefined undefinedWork. it. out! undefined undefinedApparently this look features the trademark “Taylor-Gucci lips”…Mind you, when I asked him to do the Gucci lips again, I was informed that “you do not just DO the Gucci lips. The Gucci lips do you!”  All I can say is Rock on, Mr. Gucci. ROCK. ON. [and i will not say ‘with your bad self!” to keep from completely embarrassing my husband yet again!] undefined undefined undefinedThese are some of my favorite senior pictures. Ever. He looks so collegiate – like he’s ready for the Ivy League.   undefined undefinedLOVE this one! undefinedHere’s a hint of the lady-killer smile. Eat your heart out girls! If this doesn’t make them swoon, I’m not sure what will! LOVE. IT!
undefined undefinedMy fave! Rock it out Taylor! undefinedA little more casual – I think he’s ready for the runway! undefinedAnother fave! undefinedWe had to get just a couple of him being a typical teenager…texting his best buds!
undefined undefinedStay tuned for more from Taylor later this summer!

I’m excited to share [finally!] Mike and Felice’s wedding with you. When my friend Kim from Fusion Fotografix called to ask if I wanted to photograph a rooftop wedding at Kress Terrace in downtown Greensboro with her, I remember thinking “What kind of question is THAT?? OF COURSE I do!”  I love second shooting as it gives a little different perspective  to photographing a wedding….besides, it. was. a. rooftop. wedding! Who wouldn’t want to photograph something a little out of the ordinary like that! I hope you’ll enjoy viewing this wedding as much as I enjoyed photographing it!

While Kim was with our beautiful bride Felice at her hotel, I met up with Mike [the groom] and his guys at the gorgeous!! O. Henry hotel as they prepared for the ceremony.

undefinedI love when the bridal party is relaxed. Mike’s friends kept him laughing all afternoon!
undefinedA tender moment between mom and son as she pinned on his flowers. undefinedThen it was outside for some portraits of Mike and the boys. Work it Mr. GQ! undefinedLoveloveLOVE this old car! And so did the fellas! They just had to pose in front of it.  undefinedIt’s a shame Mike and his entourage were so stiff and stuffy. They could have been a lot of fun to photograph! 😉  undefined undefinedSeriously, the guys rocked it out so quickly that they had some time to spare before heading over to the ceremony site, so they decided to help Mike “prepare” just a little more.
undefined
Another loft on the roof offered a birdseye view of the ceremony and the downtown area! Way cool!
undefinedMike and Felice were listening intently as her dad, who officiated the ceremony, offered words of wisdom for their marriage.
undefined
undefined undefinedI always love seeing the meaningful details brides create. The table names were cities that had significance to Mike and Felice’s relationship. undefinedAnd Mike plays hockey so guests signed hockey sticks which will hang in their home. undefinedThe couple’s best friends gave speeches that were sweet, touching and funny, all at the same time.
undefinedWho can resist photographing [and apparently kissing] a guest with a great smile?  undefinedAfter dinner, it was back onto the rooftop for some dancing. Love these shots I captured of Mike and Felice’s first dance. undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined undefinedA fun getaway complete with bubbles… undefined undefined

A big thank you to Mike, Felice [and Kim] for allowing me to share in their special day. I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!
